SourceWilliam Charles Middleton is shown on the IGI as having been chr Dec 5,1824,Christ Church Southwark. ] therefore query his birth which is shown rather later (25 Dec 1824). Changed by Frank Middleton to 05 Dec 1824, although it must have been earlier than that unless he was baptized the day he was born.
In 1851 William C Middleton and his family were living at 40. Long Acre, with a coachbuilding business, employing 4 other men, and Charles Sharp Middleton, aged 24, Williiam's brother appears as a Coachbuilder Journeyman. A little way down the road at No 8, was Robert Silk a Master coachbuilder, employing 40 men. Robert married Sarah Hill; from Essex, and they had 14 children,12 of whom were baptised in St Martins-in-the Fields nearby. Sarah died in 1841, and Robert married her youngest sister. Louisa. The business flourished and expanded, with an address 8/9 Long Acre, into the firm of Silk and Brown. this is just backgroungd, mainly of passing interest.
