There is a note in this story of 1844 that Percy lived for some time in Galveston, Texas, but at what date? Mexico is only across the border. But i doubt if there are records in Galveston of visitors at that time.


PERCY. B. ST. JOHN NAILS HIS COLOURS TO THE MAST

One of the first magazines to publish articles by Percy B. St. John had been ‘Chambers Edinburgh Journal’ and in the issue of 

Saturday, March 3, 1849, the journal published a story called ‘The Song and the Singer'. Percy B.St John was then aged 28.

In this rather fanciful story, which the concerns of the origins of the ‘The Marseillaise,’ one cannot help but feel that Percy B. St John had nailed his colours to the mast - if not to the red flag!
