Arnold Middleton was born on Sept 3 1873 at 174 Walworth Road, South London. He died on 7 Nov 1950 at 25 Palace Road, Streatham Hill. The public figure is remembered in few bibliographical entries but my family recall two things about the composer. They remember that he had composed a famous military march; but they also remember that he had met Robert Louis Stevenson - and thereby hangs a tale!
