Sophia and her twin brother Robert were christened on 3ed of August 1811 privately by the Vicar of Longstock, which indicates that one or both of the twins were not expected to survive. Fortunately they did survive and were later rechristened on 19th of October 1824 in Romsey. Discussing the double christening with a churchman he thought that the second christening took place as part of a confirmation service.
