WAILLY ORCHARD CEMETERY - Pas de Calais

WATKINS, Private, JAMES HENRY, 5327. 1st/28th Bn. London Regiment (Artists' Rifles). Killed in action 2nd December 1916. Age 24. Son of William Finniss Watkins and Mary Anne Watkins, of 32, Albemarle Crescent, Scarborough, Yorks. Born at Westerham, Kent I.C.14.

The Artists Rifles were almost entirely an Officers Training Unit and most members would be officers at a later stage of the war. Regrettably James did not live long enough to receive a commission.
