The job queue shown on the Special:Statistics indicates the number of pages waiting to be updated because something like a template used by many pages has changed.

A job is run daily at 2:47AM EDT/EST that does a database backup and also creates the Index and Chronology pages. Ir takes about 3 minutes on a quad processor Sun Sparc system with 4GB memory.

A job is run weekly (Sundays at 2:27AM EST.EDT) that does a full site backup. It takes about 4 minutes.
