Frank is reputed to have introduced the heating system into British trains. He caused a family scandal by divorcing Maud and marring Nellie Middleton. Maude and Nellie were first cousins and he had a reputation as somewhat of a blackguard. Despite this he was remembered with affection by Walter, Roma & Robert and others.

His father was Maj. Gen. George Brown Mellersh and was born in India but was a British Subject.

Frank Mellersh also had a son, he does not appear in the family census, probably went to boarding school. The General sent all his sons to boarding school and Frank may have done the same with his son.
